This past Wednesday the guys totally surprised me and gave me a mini birthday party with cake and all. It was totally unexpected! We’ve had a busy year so far with several large projects with short turn around times so it was great to take a little break, play with the dogs, and eat some cake together.

We’re also working hard to get a new website launched and have more of a regular presence on this blog etc. so you can look forward to that in the near future!

So we rolled up our sleeves, broke out the homemade play-doh, and went to town.

When we sat down to figure out what we wanted to do for our holiday mailer this year, we decided that we were going to try something different. Since 2009 has been such a tough year for everyone, we wanted to do something fun that would end the year on a good note. So we rolled up our sleeves, broke out the homemade play-doh, and went to town. We hope that you enjoy watching our short (really short) holiday film featuring the humid guy as much as we enjoyed making it.

Check it out.

Parasailing for the first time... it was not anything like I imagined it!

Hello all. This is Amy - the humid ‘intern’ - writing to you today with Experience #7. In trying to think of something thrilling to add to the mix of mountain biking, kayaking, and having babies, I remembered what I did this summer! I went parasailing for the first time. Now, I have usually classified parasailing in the ‘extreme activities’ category up there with sky diving and bridge jumping. I have never really felt the need to pursue such activities, though maybe if presented with the opportunity, I wouldn’t turn it down. So when this summer, my Uncle decided to take his family parasailing during our family vacation to Ocean CIty, MD, the rest of us were faced with the decision to join in the fun. My sister and I decided we were up to some fun and new adventures, so we went along for the experience. Let me tell you - it was not anything like I imagined it! I am not a huge fan of roller coasters and ‘loosing your stomach’ and this is what I was imagining most of this sailing experience would do to me - not at all! We took off right from the back of the boat (which worked out way better than starting on land and face planting into the water like everyone on America’s Funniest Home Videos does!) and just lazily floated up above the water. I think we were on a 900′ rope or so and were up in the air for about 10 minutes or so. At the end, they bring you down (the part I thought was going to feel like falling out of the sky) and dip your feet in the water, and then pull you into the boat. It was definitely a lot of fun, so relaxing to be floating up in the sky, and it’s a great view. I recommend the experience, especially riding with someone else - it’s always fun to share experiences!

Atanye came to us and asked for help developing some athletic shirt graphics focusing on sustainability. Atayne makes outdoor and athletic gear from trash or a more standard term “recycled materials”. Their goal is to make gear that is better for people, the planet and performance.

We developed a few designs and artwork for the shirts and are continuing to work with Atayne to advertise a more sustainable minded world. Check out some of the designs and let us know what you think. To see more just visit the Atayne website at www.atayne.com.

The bike rack/bench combos for SRDC were installed at the end of the summer!

A little over a year ago we were approached by Josh Nims of the Schuylkill River Development Corp. He was looking for someone to design a bike rack/bench combo for their restoration efforts along the banks of the Schuylkill River. We decided that we were going to donate our design services and were able to get most of the materials and fabrication donated as well. The bike rack/bench combos were installed at the end of the summer! We finally had some free time to head down to the river trail and snap a few photos. If you are interested in checking them out, just walk down the river trail past the Water Works until you are blinded by two brightly colored objects off to the side. Park your bike on the back of the bench and take a load off as you watch the river or the traffic on I-76. Let us know what you think!

So I(James) was surfing the web the other day and came across this image of the second atomic bomb being tested in Operation Crossroads. The photo is in the National Geographic Archives and is amazing. It’s hard to believe that the subject of this photograph is such a horrible thing, because it creates such a beautiful picture. What do you think?

Or maybe you know of something else with negative impact but beautiful appearance. Let us know.

We gave East Falls Presbyterian Church a clean and functional e-newsletter design. We are pretty happy with Campaign Monitor’s services so that is who we suggested to East Falls Presbyterian.

We designed and developed an easy to read, young and bold Campaign Monitor template allowing the church to reach out to it’s community and share their events and news.
