A little over a year ago we were approached by Josh Nims of the Schuylkill River Development Corp. He was looking for someone to design a bike rack/bench combo for their restoration efforts along the banks of the Schuylkill River. We decided that we were going to donate our design services and were able to get most of the materials and fabrication donated as well. The bike rack/bench combos were installed at the end of the summer! We finally had some free time to head down to the river trail and snap a few photos. If you are interested in checking them out, just walk down the river trail past the Water Works until you are blinded by two brightly colored objects off to the side. Park your bike on the back of the bench and take a load off as you watch the river or the traffic on I-76. Let us know what you think!

is it made of wood?
looks like, but wondering if it will be obvious to biker that this is someplace that can/should have bikes locked to it. that metal railing down by the water looks mighty tempting.
Hi Peter,
Thanks for your inquiry. The bike rack/bench combos are actually made out of aluminum and finished with an exterior grade powder coating. We are not sure if it will be obvious to a biker or not. It was not clear how many people will actually stop and park their bikes, but we wanted to give them that option if they decided to. I guess only time will tell.
Either way, one thing is for sure…whoever is sitting there looking at the back-up on I-76 will be glad that they are riding a bike instead of sitting in that traffic!
Hey guys,
I was actually down that way the other day and saw a bike attached to it. Wait, it was a bum laying on it.
They look beautiful. Nice job guys!
