At a recent gathering for Philadelphia Mountain Biking Association they mentioned that they wanted to update their logo. It was clear to everyone at the meeting that it was time to release a new logo that was a bit more modern yet still conveyed the soul and purpose of the group.  PMBA contributes a lot of its time to improving the multi-use trails in and around Philly and promoting bike safety and advocacy. We eagerly volunteered to take on the task of bringing their logo up to speed to reflect these values.

Our goal was simple - change it but, keep it the same. The logo had history and many of the members were attached to the chainring around the Liberty Bell. There were also references to bikers riding up and down the Liberty Bell. Although we liked the references we felt it was too literal. Plus, it was missing the notion of trails and awareness, a symbol that we felt would be universally understood by any audience.

The final logo that was chosen presented a more refined and simple chainring design encasing the national symbol exclusive to Philly, our Liberty Bell. The Liberty Bell is famous for it’s “crack” so to reference mountain biking, we created a winding trail that formed the “crack” of the bell We wanted the complete logo to say, we are part of a bigger group, we all love and share the great trails together and when you see this logo it’s a good thing.

We are extremely proud our our work and happy to have contributed to a sport and group focused on keeping the trails open - for everyone. So slap a sticker on and get out there and spread the love!
